Il s'agit de mon propre résumé.




A streetcar named desire.
Tenessee Wiliams


Scene 1.

Blanche, Stella’s sister, arrives in town. She seems panicked, she drinks. And then finally she confess having lost the plantation. Stella and Stanley in fact live in a small place. Stella had Romanised her letters to her sister.
Notice : Stanley is Polish.
Stella had left Belle Reve to take care of herself.
Lots of death at the plantation.


Scene 2.
(The following evening).

Stanley wants to know what happened to the plantation, if it had been sold or something else. He is quite suspicious towards Blanche and behave very roughly with her. He openly accuses her and on top of that reveals her Stella is pregnant.
In this scene Stanley appears very selfish and money-centred.


Scene 3.

Mitch behaves very impolitely to Stella & Blanche when they came back home after seeing a spectacle. Stanley is having his usual poker party he is very unpleasant with the men too. Blanche discusses with Mitch. Both are single-persons. Blanche lies to Mitch and tells him she came to help her sister who didn’t feel good and was exhausted. Stanley who is drunk throws the radio out through the window. And as Stella makes a remark and asks the men to go he hits her. At the end of the scene, Stella who had run away comes back. Blanche & Mitch discuss together outside on the steps.


Scene 4.

Blanche doesn’t have any money. She keeps saying she wants to get the two of us out. She tries to call one of her former (now married) boyfriend. She tells Stella what she thinks about Stanley : he is a beast & brutal. She says that she can’t stay here because of him. He hears everything but do as if he doesn’t and enters the room at the end of the conversation.



Scene 5.

Steve and Eunice have a quarrel. Blanche writes a letter to Shep (the former boyfriend). One of Stanley’s friend thinks he has already met her (Shaw). Blanche seems to be very ill at ease when she talks with Stanley. Blanche confesses having been with lots of different men. She feels existing when she is with them. Then Blanche asks her sister about other people’s opinion about her. She kisses the young boy collecting money for a newspaper. (The young age of her partner seems to make her feel younger. Mitch appears with roses.
During this seen Blanche is nervous and worried and she shivers a lot. She drinks too.


Scene 6.

Blanche and Mitch have been to an amusement park. Blanche hasn’t enjoyed it much. They both have a night-cap and they talk together. Blanche arouse Mitch a little. Mitch is very sweet and try to get some affection. Then she tells him to behave like a gentleman. She asks about how Stanley think of her. Then she tells Mitch about the man she loved. They kiss each other.


Scene 7.

It’s Blanche’s Birthday. Stanley tells Stella all that he known about her sister. She charmed all the men and was told by the mayor not to come in the city again. She has been fired of the school she was teaching in, for she had an affair with a nineteen-year-old boy. Mitch was expected to come for Blanche’s birthday’s celebration. But Stanley has told him everything he knew about Blanche. Stella tries to defend or sister which is under Stanley’s accusations. Stella is affected and pretends not to be. But Blanche insists and wants to know what happened.


Scene 8.
(It takes place three-quarters of an hour later)

Mitch didn’t come. Blanche try to entertain them with a joke. Then Stanley gets angry because Stella talk in too directive a way to him. Blanche insists to know what happened while she was bathing and she calls Mitch and lets her number.
Stanley gives Blanche a present which is actually the bus ticket for her to go back home. Blanche, being very affected, goes into the bathroom. Meanwhile Stanley brings Stella to the hospital (she is going to give birth to the baby).
Scene 9.
(it takes place a while later that evening)

Blanche is depressed and drinks. But suddenly Mitch comes. He has been drinking and behaves unfriendly to Blanche. He reproaches her for lying to him. He tells her he doesn’t want to marry her anymore. Then she cries “fire” out of the windows and Mitch goes away.


Scene 10.
(it takes place a few hours later that night)

Blanche has drunk, she is packing he belongings and talking to herself. Stanley appears. Blanche lies to him and pretends being invited to a cruise on a yacht. Then she lies about Mitch making amends. She tries to call Shep. She is visibly gone mad. Stanley is about to rape her.


Scene 11.
(it takes place a few weeks later)

Blanche has told her sister about what happened. But she doesn’t believe her. Mitch and his friends are playing poker. Blanche believes she is going to be called by Shep. The door rings. Blanche goes out, thinking it’s Shep, but it’s a doctor and a matron (nurse). Blanche is taken to the hospital.
